Are you ready to start getting more bang for your buck when it comes to content creation? It’s time to start content repurposing, friend!
Content repurposing is taking one initial piece of content and repackaging it into new mediums and forms. For example, you could turn a podcast into a blog, or chop your blog post up into smaller sections and use them for captions for your Instagram!

As a small business owner myself, I know how important it is to maximize every hour in your business. Repurposing can help you make sure that none of the *amazing* content you create goes to waste, and continues to get results for you long after it’s been produced.
So without further ado, here are 7 reasons why content repurposing needs to be part of your marketing strategy this year:
1. Prevent Content Burnout
For those of you who have not yet joined the content repurposing club, you’re probably spending hours creating content to help grow your online presence and serve your clients.
Instagram posts, instagram stories, facebook live trainings, blog posts, newsletters, reels and maybe you’ve even started growing your account on tik tok.
If you have been using your precious time to come up with each unique idea so that you can show up online week after week, month after month and maybe year after year you will eventually burn out.
Burning out will make you feel exhausted, lose focus, and you might even lose your creative spark entirely. Don’t let this happen to you.
The reality is, you are not going to feel inspired all the time to make new and exciting content that has the ability to attract your ideal clients.
And I want you to know that that’s totally alright! This is why we have content repurposing.
Repurposing is going to help you get systems in place to be able to reuse older content and multiply the impact of every new piece of content you come up with.
You’ll be able to strategically use the content you create to help you build a more sustainable marketing strategy and avoid creative burnout when it comes to your own content.
2. You’re Busy
Let’s keep things simple. You are busy!
If you’re an entrepreneur or small business owner, you’re probably wearing a ton of different hats. Maybe even all the hats.
If you’re trying to keep up with content creation while juggling the rest of your responsibilities it’s soon going to start to feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day.
To be completely honest with you – there aren’t.
Most of the entrepreneurs I know are doing all the things when it comes to their content marketing. They are showing up on every platform as much as possible with completely unique pieces of content every time.
This alone feels like a full time job, not to mention business development and actually serving your clients!
The reality is there are only so many hours in a day and you need to streamline the content creation process to make the most of them.
When you are repurposing you can focus on a single piece of content. For example: a video, a livestream, or a podcast. From there that ONE piece of content can be altered to fit so many different formats and mediums.
If you are one of the people who’s 2021 goal was to get into “batching your content” this is how you do it.
You can actually sit down and get all your weekly content done in one go. And if you choose to outsource this process that makes it even more efficient 😉
No more writing a blog on Monday, a newsletter Tuesday, a livestream on Wednesday etcetera, etcetera.
In 2021 we are batching our content through the magic of content repurposing.
3. You often don’t know what to post
“I want to post more consistently but everytime I go to post, I feel like I don’t have anything to say”
I hear this all the time.
With content repurposing this problem is going to vanish into thin air.
Think of it this way.
Let’s say your primary content form was an Instagram live training. If you were repurposing all you would have to do would be to plan out your ideas for these IG lives for the next quarter. This cuts out planning each individual post, story, blog, newsletter etc.
If you plan your IG live topics for the next quarter that is only 12 topics. Easy-peasy! I know you can do it.
After each live you repurpose your video into multiple other forms of media and BAM – the impact of that live has multiplied in value without you having to come up with more ideas.
What I want for you and your content this year is less work and MORE impact.
4. Improve your website’s SEO
These days there’s a big push for us to share our content in new ways. To stay trendy and current and to always push the envelope with the ways we reach our audience.
I love when I see business owners who are really taking advantage of all the different media platforms available to us, but I also see a ton of value in keeping it old school.
And by old school, I mean your blog.
Blogging is not dead and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a great way to get found by your ideal clients (without having to spend hours and hours on social media mingling!).
When you post something on social media it might get traction for the first few days, but eventually it gets buried in the rest of the content that you’re pushing out.
But – when you publish a blog post that’s SEO-optimized it might be found weeks, months or even years after it’s originally been shared.
SEO expands the life of your content exponentially, so don’t sleep on blogging.
5. Improve your IG reach
Did you know that instagram prioritizes accounts that use all of the IG features?
Yep!
If you’re only using instagram to make grid posts the algorithm is going to start prioritising accounts that use stories, reels, IGTV and IG lives over yours.
Make the best of the instagram algorithm by showing up in every way on this platform by repurposing.
Be brave. Hop on a live and share your wisdom with your audience. Then, you can get to work repurposing your message into a blog post, a grid post and maybe even take it a step further and make a reel out of it.
If you’re going to be spending all this energy making brilliant content, you want it to be SEEN. So get on that repurposing grind!
6. Everyone learns in different ways
I feel like this one is really easy to forget, but our ideal clients don’t all consume our content in the same way.
Everyone has a different learning style or favorite way to get information. Some people like to listen to podcasts, watch videos, read and some people prefer something short and sweet like a reel.
If you’re not content repurposing that might sound really overwhelming.
Luckily if you start incorporating repurposing into your marketing strategy you can very easily reach your audience in a multitude of ways without spending massive amounts of time on each piece of content.
This way you can satisfy the podcast junkies, the blog readers, strictly IG story lurkers, people who like to save grid posts for later and maybe even the TikTokers.
7. Your ideas are too good not to!
Finally, you need to start repurposing because your ideas are too good not to.
You are the expert. You have tons of experience and knowledge to share with your followers.
When you create your valuable piece of content it needs to be shared more than once across multiple platforms.
One of the best parts about content repurposing is that even if you decide to outsource it, it is still always your ideas.
When every piece of content is based off of one of your rich and valuable original sources, the essence of your expertise is in every post.
Your ideas are worth sharing, so don’t let them fizzle out after their first share. Keep reinventing and repurposing and give your brilliant and valuable ideas new life.
